Stratford - Taranaki Seeks Greenkeeper

At Stratford Golf Course, we pride ourselves on maintaining one of the finest golf courses in the area. With superb sand-based greens and picturesque fairways, we are dedicated to delivering a top-tier experience for our golfers. We are seeking a motivated Greenskeeper who takes pride in their work to help us uphold these high standards.

Responsibilities: Maintain and care for our sand-based greens, fairways, perform tasks such as mowing, trimming, irrigation, and seasonal upkeep, assist with equipment maintenance and ensure safety standards ,collaborate with the team to ensure the golf course is in pristine condition daily.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer Level 4 Sports Turf but would consider Level 3.

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in producing quality results.

  • Previous landscaping or greenskeeping experience preferred, but not essential.

  • Willingness to learn and develop in the field, with apprenticeship opportunities available.

Golf Course Superintendent at Maraenui Golf Club, Hawkes bay

Maraenui Golf Club (MGC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Golf Course Superintendent.

Maraenui Golf Club is one of Hawkes Bay’s finest, set in lovely tree lined surrounds just off Marine Parade in Napier. Although flat and easy to walk, the 6,125 metre 18-hole course offers tightly sculptured tree lined fairways with creative greens complexes and bunkering for all levels to enjoy. Home to 900+ members and over 5,000 visitors every year, Maraenui is a popular Hawkes Bay course.

Running alongside Maraenui is our public 9-hole course that is open to all golfers, non-golfers, families, social and work groups. Recently devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle, Awatoto Public Golf Course and facilities are ripe for redevelopment.

This is a unique opportunity to join the senior management team and deliver a positive outcome for a club that is looking to deliver significant change in the coming years and needs a leader who can contribute towards this direction and deliver meaningful outcomes on time and on budget.

The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for all course maintenance, agronomic operations, budget control and personnel.

The Howick Golf Club is seeking a dedicated and passionate Greenkeeper to join our team and help maintain our stunning coastal course to the highest standards.

Assistant Golf Course Manager Position

A management opportunity has arisen at Kauri Cliffs Golf Course and Lodge situated in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, 30 minutes’ drive north of the Kerikeri township.  Kauri Cliffs is ranked one of the top golf courses in the world and works out of a modern turf facility with a wide range of the latest equipment. You will be working closely with both the Golf Course Manager and Forman, helping in the planning of both short and long-term goals, overseeing the spraying programs, and preparing the daily work schedule. This is a hands-on working position that involves staff supervision, record keeping and running the entire maintenance operation in the absence of the Golf Course Manager. You will be rostered to work every third weekend and required to work a minimum 43-hour week.

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Formal turf qualifications relevant to this senior position.

  • Have a proven ability to help lead and motivate a large team.

  • Practical experience and operation of most turf related plant and equipment.

  • Relevant experience and qualifications in chemical usage and application.

  • A strong understanding of modern Health and Safety requirements and reporting.

  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good level of fitness and enjoy physical work.

  • Current Drivers Licence.

Golf Course Manager

Methven Golf Club is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person preferably with (Level 3 or 4) for our 18-hole course situated just outside Methven township and only a short distance from the famous Mt Hutt Ski Field.

This is a full-time position that offers up-and-coming Greens Keepers experience at one of Mid-Canterbury’s most popular golfing venues for members and the many visitors we host annually.

We are looking for a passionate individual who will drive excellence within our small team to deliver a high-quality course, with top-class playing surfaces through best practice maintenance activities.

We are looking for the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience leading staff and volunteers.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of turf management and agronomy including formal qualifications such as a recognised turf diploma/certificate.

  • Experience in planning, maintaining and consistently delivering a well-presented golf course to tournament standards.

  • Knowledge and experience with developing and efficiently managing a budget including establishing and implementing asset management programmes.

  • Knowledge of and experience in irrigation maintenance and installation and with managing a fleet of machinery and plant equipment.

  • An outgoing and consultative attitude that will contribute to wider Club initiatives and projects.

Hogan Gully Farm – Golf Course Construction Project

Hogan Gully Farm is an exciting new golf course resort being by developed by Trojan Holdings Ltd near Queenstown, New Zealand. Situated on a 158-hectare site surrounded by a stunning mountain landscape, Hogan Gully Farm encompasses an 18-hole championship golf course that integrates visitor and residential accommodation, along with complementary facilities.

The resort's amenities will include a driving range, clubhouse with retail services, changing facilities, a café/bar, and restaurant. Furthermore, the project incorporates a substantial ecological restoration and enhancement initiative, spanning 39 hectares.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced people for a range of roles within our golf course construction team.  The roles are required for the main construction phase of the project from mid/late 2025 through to grow-in, in late 2027.

Roles available are:

  •  Skilled Machine Operators. (Excavators, tractors, seeding equipment, skid steers).

  • Assistant Superintendent / Grow-in specialist.

  • Greenkeepers / Apprentice Greenkeepers with irrigation and drainage experience.

  • Skilled Labourers with machinery experience.

  • Landscape specialists.

Suitable candidates with experience in golf course construction are especially sought, as well as candidates with golf course maintenance experience who relish the opportunity to be part of a construction project.

Glendhu Golf Course, Lake Wanaka, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Superintendent to join our team. 

The golf course is being designed and built by the same expert team that delivered the award winning Jack's Point Golf Course.

Position Overview:

In this pivotal role, you will be recognised as the second-in-charge (2IC) to the Manager of Courses, playing a key part in ensuring the golf course's setup and presentation meet the highest industry standards. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the golf course and its internal landscapes, and be responsible for setting daily tasks lists, leading and educating colleagues, and ensuring task completion to discerning standards.  

Now in the final stages of construction, you will play a key role in transitioning the golf property to the grow-in period and setting the course toward opening day. This position presents a significant opportunity for personal development and career growth within an exciting and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall management of golf course maintenance, focusing on turf quality and presentation.

  • Supervise the setup and maintenance of the golf course, ensuring optimal playing conditions for all members and visitors.

  • Work closely with the Manager of Courses to develop and implement maintenance and machinery upkeep programs.

  • Works closely with the Spray Technician, the Irrigation Technician, and Mechanic, to ensure superior standards on turfgrass and equipment presentation and upkeep.

  • Plays a hands-on role in the grow-in process, overseeing seeding and establishment of greens, tees, fairways, and surrounds.

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work protocols and Golf Environmental Organisation (GEO) standards.

  • Train and mentor team members in best practices for golf course management and sustainable practices.

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of special projects and improvements.

  • Takes pride in day-to-day course preparation and presentation. 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in golf course management or a related field, preferably in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation, landscaping, and general horticulture.

  • Ability to operate and maintain various golf course equipment.

  • Excellent leadership skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
